I really like your work! I am intrigued by your use of bonded sand! I haven’t tried that technique. Do you cast your own work? I have done some sculpting, but would love to make more of a career out of it. Any advice?
Laura,
Thanks for the comment. Sometimes I cast my own work and sometimes I let the foundry do it. If it is going to be a particularly complicated mold I have the foundry do it. my relief sculptures are usually just one piece molds so I have no problem casting them myself. The bonded sand is pretty new to me also and it took me a while to get the right mix. I am using smooth-on resin and silica sand manufactured in Idaho. I could talk forever about things I have learned about making a career out of art but each artist is so different I can’t say things I have learned will apply to you and your career. There is no easy way to do it. A lot of hard work and building a consistent body of work is a good place to start. I’d love to see some of your work. Please feel free to share it on my facebook page this Saturday when I do my “Inspiration Saturday” post.
