My sculpture, Steady, depicts three acrobatic tortoises doing an intricate balancing act. This whimsical sculpture takes an animal famous for being slow and stiff, and puts them in an unlikely yet exciting feat of agility and acrobatics. The title Steady comes from the fable of The Tortoise and the Hare in which the tortoise remains slow and steady to win the race. I imagine the tortoise on top of this tower saying to the other two “Steady… steady… just keep steady.”  This sculpture shows that unexpected capabilities can be found within the most unassuming forms.  I hope this sculpture puts a smile on your face and determination in your soul.
